Mexico reiterates commitment to UN objectives

Mexico City. Mexico reiterated its willingness to contribute to facing global challenges that threaten world peace and to maintain its attachment to the main objectives of the United Nations (UN).

Within the framework of United Nations Day – which is commemorated this October 24 to remember the date on which the Charter was signed, giving rise to this multilateral organization – the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (SRE) stressed that our country also cooperates to build a more just and equitable world for the entire world population.

Through its social networks, the Mexican Foreign Ministry expressed the commitment of President Claudia Sheimbaum’s government to the main objectives of the UN: maintaining international peace and security, protecting human rights, distributing humanitarian aid and supporting sustainable development. and climate action.

“Mexico is and will continue to be committed to each of them,” the SRE stated in a post on the social network X.

He added that as a founding member of the UN, our country “reiterates its firm commitment to defending the Charter of the United Nations, as well as the principles of international law to face the challenges of peace and security. The country advocates for diplomatic and peaceful resolution of conflicts, prioritizing dialogue and cooperation in the resolution of disputes.”

October 24 commemorates the entry into force of the United Nations Charter in 1945.

Separately, the Undersecretary of Multilateral Affairs and Human Rights of the SRE, Enrique Ochoa Martínez, emphasized that the international community “requires more today than ever” from the UN to achieve peace.

“Mexico, a country committed to multilateralism, will continue to promote actions to strengthen the organization in its fight for the best causes of humanity,” said the undersecretary.

79 years ago, various countries signed the United Nations Charter, the founding document of the multilateral organization. Among the signatories were then the five permanent members of the UN Security Council: the United States, China, Russia, the United Kingdom and France.
