/ world today news/ The European Affairs Council (CEA) is starting a series of discussions on the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP), which is the free trade agreement between the EU and the USA.
Today, the Council, led by the Deputy Prime Minister for Coordination of European Policies and Institutional Affairs Meglena Kuneva, tasked the Ministry of Economy to present by next Monday information on the analyzes prepared so far on the effect on Bulgaria in the various areas of the agreement – agriculture, small and medium-sized enterprises , investments, workers’ rights, arbitration opportunities, investments, exports, etc. At its next meeting, the CEC will discuss the available information and, based on it, will consider the possibilities for preparing a comprehensive analysis and assessment of the benefits and negatives for our country from the implementation of the TTIP.
Deputy Prime Minister Kuneva commented that the strengthening of negative public sentiments against the project both in Bulgaria and in a number of other European countries requires a similar objective analysis to be presented to the citizens. She insisted on interaction on the subject between the various ministries – of the economy, of finance, of labor and social policy, of justice, of agriculture and food, and of the environment and water.
