YouTube ranking in the DRC: Fally Ipupa confirms its domination for the month of October

The month of October 2024 was once again marked by the supremacy of Fally Ipupa on the Congolese music scene on YouTube. With 6 million views, the flagship artist from the DRC has largely retained his leading position on the video platform.

Behind him, Koffi Olomide and Ferre Gola complete the podium of the most viewed artists in October, with 2.23 and 2.15 million views respectively. A hierarchy that seems well established among the behemoths of Congolese music.

Héritier Wata, meanwhile, maintains its 4th place with 1.49 million views, confirming its status as a sure bet in the country’s musical landscape.

But the month of October also saw the emergence of gospel artists, who particularly stood out in the top 15. Mike Kalambay (5th with 1.26 million views), Jonathan Gambela (12th with 741,000 views) and Emmanuel Musongo (14th with 634,000 views) were able to do well.

Another notable fact is the strong comeback of the MPR group, which is in 9th position with 813,000 views. A praised performance, especially since MPR is the only representative of Congolese rap/urban in this ranking dominated by heavyweights.

Werrason, for his part, also entered the top 10 in 6th position with 1 million views. A result which demonstrates the ability of this artist to mobilize a large audience.

Finally, we will note the presence of the brothers Dadju (7th) and Gims (8th), who confirm the attraction of the Congolese public for the African music scene beyond the borders of the DRC.

This YouTube ranking for October 2024 illustrates the predominance of established artists in Congolese music, led by Fally Ipupa. But it also highlights the emergence of new sensibilities, like gospel, which are gaining visibility. A rich and diverse musical landscape, which testifies to the vitality of the music scene in the DRC.
