Jakarta –
Unusual outbreaks (KLB) of food poisoning due to the Chinese la tiao viral snack have been reported in several areas including Lampung, Sukabumi, Wonosobo, South Tangerang, Pamekasan, and Riau. Most of the victims were primary school children.
Despite this, this viral snack is widely consumed via hand-carrying or brought directly from its country of origin, China. The Director of the Food and Drug Investigation Agency (BPOM RI) Taruna Ikrar asked the public to stop eating the viral snack for a while until the results of the investigation were completely ready.
The reason is that in four la tiao viral snacks, bacillus cereus bacteria were found that could trigger several complaints from nausea, vomiting, to fatal shortness of breath.
