The NYPD bomb squad is responding to a scene in Central Park after a possible stun grenade was found in the area where spectators will be located for the New York City Marathon. The inert device was found on a picnic table near West 68th Street and West Drive at 9:24 a.m. The location is near the finish line of the 2024 TCS New York City Marathon, according to a source. The police gave the final OK signal after 11am.

According to authorities, the device turned out to be a malfunctioning fake, sources told NBC, who stressed that it was not a threat.
