“It’s about time!”: ‘Queen of Christmas’ Mariah Carey declares the Christmas season open

In 1994, Mariah Carey dropped out ‘All I Want For Christmas‘ out. Since then it has been a classic among the classics that are played at Christmas time. To harm those who envy him, it is almost impossible to escape.

Carey calls himself the ‘Queen of Christmas‘, it has become her symbolic trademark. Two years ago she tried to make it a legal trademark, but that didn’t work. Anyway, Carey links a big (commercial) experience to her hit and to Christmas every year.

In 2019, the singer began announcing “It’s time” with a festive video that she posts on her social media every year on November 1 at 1 minute after midnight. The message: The season for decorating trees, hot chocolate and Christmas music can officially begin.

At first, “it wasn’t even a call,” Carey once said. “People were saying, ‘Hey, when is it okay to put our lights up and put up our tree?’ and ‘When will you do that?’ People were just asking me that because I think they thought I was very Christmassy.”
