Quiet Halloween night in NRW – News

In Düsseldorf, three people wanted with arrest warrants were issued as part of the checks. Individual cases of bodily harm, riots or disputes were “handled” with a strong police presence.

In nearby Erkrath, a group of around 100 people caused unrest and also attacked police officers and patrol cars. There were no injuries. Here too, according to the announcement, the troublemakers were mostly young people.

In Hagen, officials issued expulsions in 167 cases, but things remained mostly quiet. The balance in the Düren district was: 42 missions and mostly disturbances of the peace and some damage to property.

In the Rhine district of Neuss, the police went out on 51 missions during the night; no “outstanding incidents” were reported; there were only expulsions and a few reports of bodily harm.

Game of hide and seek with the police

In the border area between North Rhine-Westphalia and the Netherlands, around 500 drivers from the poser and tuning scene played a game of hide-and-seek with the police. The meeting was actually supposed to take place in Wesel.

When the police ended it, many participants drove to the Netherlands – and then back and forth between several cities. At around 1:30 a.m. the police finally broke up the group in Emmerich.

Sweets instead of riots

In Essen-Bergmannsfeld, where riots have occurred frequently in the past, the local young people, together with the youth welfare office, organized a Halloween party for the children in the district. Sweets and sandwiches were organized and a film was also shown.

The goal: to get the children off the streets on Halloween night and offer them a meeting place. The event was well received: up to 150 children and young people took part in the event.

Duisburg police seize firecrackers

In Duisburg it was said that intensive operational preparation and increased security measures had paid off. In total there were around 250 operations, firecrackers were confiscated and 113 people were sent off.

The Warendorf district reported 36 operations related to Halloween, all without “serious proportions”.
