China wants to expand the “openness pie” with all sides. Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian said this at a press conference on Friday.
Regarding the seventh CIIE starting next week, Lin said the event is an important sign of China’s increased opening-up. The number of registered participants and visitors clearly demonstrated the attractiveness of the huge Chinese market and reflected the international community’s strong confidence in China’s economic future. They also demonstrated the shared desire of all sides to achieve mutual benefits through open cooperation. China is ready to use the CIIE as a platform to enlarge the “pie of openness” together with all partners, expand the list of cooperation and share the opportunities of the large Chinese market with the world so that as many as possible benefit from them.
Responding to a question about the situation in Iran, Lin said China condemns the recent terrorist attacks, rejects all forms of terrorism and supports Iran’s efforts to maintain its national security and stability.
Regarding the planned security and defense partnership agreement between the Japanese government and the European Union, the Chinese ministry spokesman emphasized that any form of security and defense cooperation should serve to promote peace and stability in the region and should not be directed against third parties or harm the security interests of other countries.
