Last week, the A Palos Rugby Club held the vote for the new formation of the Board of Directors of the Cuenca rugby club. Elections that have given rise to a renewed commission at the head of the Jabato team that will have Marcos Sarria at the helm as the new president, replacing Víctor Carrascosa “Polín.”

In the rest of the positions, María Victoria Marzullo “Vicky” will serve as vice president, while Pablo Alonso will serve as secretary and Fabio Arango as treasurer. In the representative positions will be the now former president Víctor Carrascosa as the representative of the founders, while the representative of the players will be Adriana Bollo, while Luis Felipe Fort will be the players and Rubén Nielfa will be the club members. Thus, Jair Ruibal will be the technical director of the club.

A board that has deeply appreciated “the years of dedication and effort of the outgoing board, whose commitment has been essential for the birth and development of the club for so long.”

Thus, the new management has several lines of action under its arm from the base to germinate the seed of the oval ball in Cuenca again.

“The main thing is to focus on recruitment projects, get involved as a club in the community by participating in volunteering and different activities to promote our sport and go up a notch at a competitive level,” Marcos Sarria, the new president of A Palos, explained to this medium. .

This recruitment effort is intended for both the men’s and women’s teams, since both will not compete in a federated manner this season, which does not indicate that it is synonymous with the cessation of their activity, since one of the main proposals of the new directive is to provide different friendlies and concentrations to generate experience and training in both teams.

A desire that also extends to the base. To this end, in addition to increasing conversations with different clubs in the region and seeing how the number of rugby school matches can increase, there is also the initiative to train coaches and instructors so that future generations can enjoy qualified rugby coaches. .

SATURDAY IT´S RUGBY DAY

This motto, which translated into Spanish is understood as “Saturday is rugby day,” is the motto behind another of the interesting initiatives that the new A Palos board wants to recover. «We must try to get people to bond, to return that feeling of belonging and all the lovers of this sport in Cuenca to meet on specific dates, not only as happens, for example, with the Valverde tournament. May Saturday be ‘Saturday it´s rugby day’“, create activities, conferences, training sessions, injury prevention workshops… get together again to create a club identity,” Sarria added.

In this way, the Jabato club hopes to launch the machinery so that what may seem like a step backwards when it comes to not having federated teams this season, becomes an impulse to move forward with more force towards a future in which they will return to have a growing quarry and competing teams that represent Cuenca in the oval ball scene.
