/ world today news/ “The additional permanent deployment of heavy weapons on the territory of Bulgaria does not help to increase our national security, we simply become part of the line of bilateral confrontation between the eastern flank of NATO and Russia”.
This was stated by the Deputy Chairman of the National Assembly and Member of Parliament Yanaki Stoilov in a question to Prime Minister Borissov during today’s blitz control. Stoilov recalled that already on the occasion of the war in Eastern Ukraine, we stated that Bulgaria should in no way increase this conflict and get involved in it. He added that on June 12 of this year, the one-year period expired during which the Bulgarian government could request a renegotiation of part of the terms of the agreement between the governments of the Republic of Bulgaria and the United States on cooperation in the military field. “I don’t know if you have taken any action as you promised here. I want you to clearly state your position – do you support, do you support these actions expressed by government ministers and the Bulgarian president, or do you intend to defend a position according to which Bulgaria and the Bulgarian people do not consider Russia a military threat and intend to take into account the specifics of our country , so that it has stability and security”, asked Prime Minister Janaki Stoilov. He expressed doubt that the prime minister was informed in a timely manner by the president about his commitments. “I’m referring to the NATO summit in Wales – did he want someone to protect us from threats, because unlike the Baltic countries and Plosha, which put this issue before the NATO allies themselves, I think the situation in Bulgaria is different”. explained Stoilov. He was adamant that if we intend to arrange ourselves in this primitive way in a common row, it will not bring us anything good for the future.
Bulgaria finally begins to form its foreign policy
“We understand that the army needs military training and exercises, but I fear that we will not switch to a regime of permanent, continuous exercises, and then in the form of exercises, this result will be achieved, for which I asked the question”, stated Stoilov. According to him, the responsible position requires Bulgaria to finally start forming its foreign policy. “I am not saying that it should be taken out of the context of the EU and NATO, but if we are simply executors of foreign commands, Bulgaria will not solve its problems,” said the deputy. According to him, participation in an organization means to put your point of view more insistently, to defend your interests and for partners to comply with them. “The rest, I’m afraid, will start to generate mass negative sentiments in the Bulgarian society against the organizations in which we participate, and this must be explained to them,” Yanaki Stoilov concluded.
