Here, Teigen’s life and work will be honored through a permanent exhibit called “Not Like Everyone Else.”
On Saturday 9 November there will be a ceremonial opening of the exhibition with a gala in the spirit of Jahn Teigen. Here, the public can experience a unique concert where Teigen’s family and friends gather to honor the man and the artist with song, music and words.
Sarpsborg musician Martin Kristiansen (31) will be part of that party.
With Skorgan on stage
– Teigen’s Tropper will be on stage at Jahn Teigen’s official birthday celebration, organized by his family. Teigen’s ex-spouse, Anita Skorgan, is now also part of the group. Teigen’s Tropper was the name of Jahn Teigen’s iconic tour in 1979. Now there’s a new band of the same name, put together by Teigen’s longtime guitarist Svein Dag Hauge.
Hauge performed on all of Teigen’s hits, from “My first love” to “Optimist” and “The most beautiful thing.” He was Teigen’s first choice on tours and recordings and is also known as the guitarist in Lava, as well as having played for many of Norway’s biggest artists.
The band also includes Per Hillestad, Lava’s drummer, Terje Støldal – one of the country’s most popular bassists, known for his work with Henning Kvitnes, Trine Rein, Teigen and Odd Børretzen – and Markus Nilsen, who is behind the music for NRK’s. popular program “Maskorama”.
– It feels surreal to be part of this group of musical legends, says singer Martin Kristiansen.
Norway tour in 2025
Today, Sarpingen lives entirely and completely from the music with Teigen’s Tropper.
– In 2025 we will tour several large cultural centers around Norway with Anita Skorgan. In addition, there are festival trips and other play activities, says Kristiansen.
The 31-year-old has been smitten with Jahn Teigen.
– Since I started with music, I have been very interested in Teigen and his music. As Anita Skorgan previously stated, Teigen is Norway’s answer to ABBA. He is Norway’s biggest pop artist of all time, says Kristiansen.
Playing at home on Friday
Tonight, Martin Kristiansen plays on home turf with Teigen’s Tropper in front of a nearly packed Sarpsborg stage.
– It will be good to show off Teigen’s troops to the sarpinges, he admits.
Before the concert in Sarpsborg, a small problem has arisen that Kristiansen would like to clear up:
– There is a concert in Båthusteateret in Fredrikstad on the same evening with “A Day’s Pause – tribute to Jahn Teigen”. I know several people who bought tickets there to see Teigen’s Tropper. I want to make it clear that Teigen’s Tropper plays on the Sarpsborg stage and not the Båthusteateret, emphasizes Martin Kristiansen, who is looking forward to paying tribute to Jahn Teigen at home on Friday 1 November.
