Defense experts say that the ICBM, if fired normally, would travel up to 15,000 km, which means it would be able to reach all areas in United States (AS).
If the Hwasong ICBM was equipped with a nuclear warhead, all of America would be within range nuclear weapons Jewelry.
The missile was fired at 07.11 local time in Pyongyang’s first test in almost a year. She headed northeast towards the Sea of Japan, also known as the East Sea, and landed in those waters at 08.37am.
Japanese Defense Minister General Nakatani said the ICBM reached an altitude of 4,350 miles (7,000 kilometers), flew 620 miles (1,000 kilometers) and was in the air for 87 minutes.
However, the missile was fired at a steep angle in an attempt to control its trajectory and avoid other countries.
If launched normally, and depending on the payload, that would mean a possible range of up to 9,320 miles (15,000 kilometers), said Kwon Yong Soo, a professor at South Korea’s National Defense University – meaning that anywhere in America would be within range.
For your information, the distance from Pyongyang to Washington, DC, is 6,800 miles (10,940 kilometers), to New York 5,600 miles (9,000 kilometers), to San Francisco and to Seattle 5,100 miles (8,200 kilometers).
North Korea’s ability to reach the US was theoretically confirmed in Pyongyang’s previous test of an ICBM, known as the Hwasong-18, in December 2023 – which lasted 73 minutes or slightly shorter than yesterday’s test.
