“My small salary and illness frustrate my efforts to improve my condition,” wrote Beethoven to his musician acquaintance, the harpist Franz Stockhausen.
Researchers have discovered in Germany a letter that was written by Ludwig Van Beethoven in 1823. In it, the great composer complains about low self-esteem and lack of money. “My small salary and illness frustrate my efforts to improve my condition,” wrote Beethoven to his familiar musician, the harpist Franz Stockhausen. In his letter, the composer asked his friend to find a buyer for his Solemn Mass. John Suchet, author of a book about life of the composer called the find “very large”. “We have known for a long time about the existence of such a letter, as well as about its content, but every item related to the genius composer is very significant for specialists,” the writer said, quoted by ITAR-TASS. “We can study the composer’s handwriting, since is very incomprehensible because his father took him out of school early so that Beethoven could focus all his efforts on music,” commented Suchet.
