One year in prison after a frantic chase in Mervans

Refusal to comply – Following a 50-kilometer escape on the roads of Saône-et-Loire, a driver was sentenced to prison

According to The Saône-et-Loire Journala 25-year-old motorist, from Saint-Germain-du-Bois, was sentenced to one year in prison for trying to escape the police during a chase of nearly 50 kilometers .

The facts date back to the night of July 15 to 16, 2023. While he was driving in Lons-le-Saunier, the man attracted the attention of the police who tried to control him. Instead of complying, he chose to flee, throwing his vehicle at high speed despite repeated warnings and injunctions from the officers.

The pursuit intensified, with the fugitive sometimes driving at nearly 160 km/h on soggy roads. Saône-et-Loireendangering public safety by burning traffic lights and using roundabouts the wrong way.
