On the occasion of the upcoming days linked to the All Saints/Defunct celebrations and the notable influx of tourists and visitors expected in the city, plans have been made to strengthen some of the main services intended to improve reception, transport and safety in the city. The city tourist observatory estimates a presence of 135/140 thousand tourists.
The tourism department of the Municipality of Naples, directed by Teresa Armato, will implement a series of hospitality services enhanced for the occasion:
- Tutor: 15 tourist reception staff (recognisable by hat and bib) will be on the streets in the most popular places in the city and at the central station to provide information, give directions and distribute information material every day, from 10am to 7pm.
- Mobile infopoints: 5 traveling tutors, on bicycles and on board an electric minicar.
- Public toilets: n. 7 mobile chemical toilets (n. 1 in via Riviera di Chiaia; n. 2 via Mezzocannone; n. 2 via Cesare Battisti 40, corner of via Fabio Filzi; n. 2 Piazza del Gesù); – n. 8 fixed bathrooms in Piazza Trieste e Trento.
The four Infopoints located at: Molo Angioino, Piazza del Gesù, via Cesario Console, alt. will remain open as usual every day, from 10am to 7pm. Palazzo Salerno, and via Morghen.
News also for transport. On the occasion of the holidays and the commemoration of the deceased, the following lines scheduled for 31 October, 1, 2 and 3 November will be strengthened to connect the cemetery area, also at the service of tourists who want to visit the monumental cemetery: Line 584 – via Toledo, Piazza Dante, Via Foria, Via Don Bosco, Santa Maria del Pianto. Line 502 – Fuorigrotta / Agnano Line 180 – Fuorigrotta / Scampia/ Secondigliano/ Santa Maria del Pianto Line 182 – Paternum/ Via Don Bosco/ Santa Maria del Pianto. Line 501 dedicated to internal movements of the cemetery. Line 169 – Piazza Garibaldi/Poggioreale hemicycle/Stadera.
Furthermore, for the other city cemeteries the following lines have been upgraded: Line 572 – monaldi/chiaiano cemetery (572/br connected with Line M1) Line 575 – scampia / secondigliano cemetery Line 194 – San Giovanni/barra Enhancement of tram lines: Lines 412 / 421 – S.giovanni/brin/piazza Municipio/piazza Garibaldi/piazza Nazionale/hemiciclo Poggioreale.
As regards Metro line 1, during the entire operating hours there is a service every 9 minutes – with nine trains in circulation with a capacity of 1,250 seats – and, during peak times, the frequency of services is every 8 minutes. The extension of evening hours will be guaranteed on Friday and Saturday evenings. Line 6, which connects the Fuorigrotta district with Piazza Municipio, continues to operate from 7am to 3pm.
The Port-Central Station-Airport connection will be guaranteed by 13 Alibuses, two more than the ordinary one, which, if necessary, will rise to 14. On trains, funiculars and Alibuses it will be possible to use TAP&GO with payment by credit card or ATM without making any ticket.
For taxis, the new regulation of service shifts remains in force until 5 January 2025 on an experimental basis to guarantee service on weekends in the afternoon and evening slots even during the busiest periods.
Also pay attention to urban hygiene. The new “intelligent” bins for separate waste collection have been positioned in Piazza Santa Maria degli Angeli which, with a design dedicated to the most iconic places in the city, beautify the area of the Chiaia station on Line 6. On Via Toledo and Piazza Trieste and Trento the first technological baskets arrive. On the urban hygiene front, the bin emptying and road equipment rearrangement services will be increased with further steps, particularly in the areas with the greatest concentration of tourism and walking on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Sweeping has also been strengthened, both mechanized and manual, in all areas of the historic centre, as well as street washing and waste paper bins in pedestrian areas, on pavements and squares with the greatest turnout, also with the aid of sanitizing products. in the areas of the central station, the historic center and in the busiest commercial areas.
Also improved security. The Local Police will guarantee greater control of the territory by intensifying controls against wild nightlife together with the other police forces and will continue the controls already implemented in the previous weekends against illegal street activity (walking and parking).
