UKHSA: First case of new type of monkeypox found in the UK

MOSCOW (ANTARA) – According to the UK Health Safety Agency (UKHSA) the first case of a new type of monkeypox (monkeypox/pox) has been found in the UK.

“The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) has found one confirmed human case of Clade Ib mpox… This is the first detection of this Clade in the UK. This strain is different from the Clade II mpox which has been circulating at low levels in the UK. UK from 2022,” said the statement by the group on Wednesday (30/10).

The case was discovered in London in a person who had recently visited countries in Africa, the statement said, adding that the risk to the UK population remained low.

Monkey pox is a rare infectious disease that can spread between people.

It is usually mild and most people recover within a few weeks. However, some people may experience problems.

Early symptoms of monkeypox include fever, headache, muscle aches, back pain, enlarged lymph nodes, chills and fatigue.

A rash can develop, usually starting on the face, and then spreading to other parts of the body.

The World Health Organization (WHO) declared the monkeypox outbreak in Africa a public health emergency of international concern in August.
