In the press conference held today at the “Carlo Urbani” hospital in Jesi, the results of the National Outcomes Program (PNE) which position the one of the best facilities in Italy for the treatment of femoral neck fractures in the over 65s. The recognition, obtained for the third consecutive year, rewards the work of the multidisciplinary team of the Orthopedics and Traumatology UOC, directed by Dr. Rocco Politanoand confirms the very high standards achieved by the Jesi hospital in the management of these delicate and complex interventions.
Present at the meeting were the Health Councilor of the Marche Region, Filippo Saltamartinithe Corporate Strategic Management of AST Ancona, and the medical and nursing staff of the facility. Dr. Politano underlined the commitment and synergy between the different departments – from Orthopedics to Radiology, Anesthesia and Resuscitation, up to Neurorehabilitation and Emergency Room – to guarantee complete and effective care for patients.
Excellent results in the treatment of femoral fractures
The Jesi Hospital stands out among the 1,363 hospitals evaluated by Agenas for the PNE 2024 thanks to the high volume of timely surgical interventions on femoral fractures of the over 65s: over 100 cases per yearwith an intervention rate within 48 hours that places the structure among the top nationally. In the Marche region, the median timeliness index for these interventions stands at 85.85%, well above the Italian average, a figure that testifies to the quality of the healthcare and organizational management of the facility.
This achievement is the result of the work of the team coordinated by the Head Nurse Tiziana Grassimade up of 10 doctors, 20 nurses and 7 OSS, and two simple operational units: Traumatology, under the guidance of Dr. Marco Cianforlini, and Articular Pathology, directed by Dr. Sergio Carloni. The team deals not only with the treatment of traumatic fractures, but also with complex surgical procedures, including prosthetic surgery, arthroscopic surgery for sports injuries and spinal surgery.

In addition to clinical activity, the Orthopedics and Traumatology UOC is engaged in the training of new healthcare professionals in collaboration with the Polytechnic University of Marche (UNIVPM), contributing to the preparation of medical students e of Orthopedic residents.
