The Guatemalan Commission of Solidarity with Cuba urged the United States to lift the blockade imposed on the largest Caribbean island, regarding the vote today on this unilateral measure.
Through a statement, the group called on “our northern neighbor country to finally admit, in short, the historic challenge that asks it to vote as almost all member countries” of the United Nations have repeatedly done.
As a world power with claims to be the sole ruler, he added, the reality of the world showed him that societies, even under the siege of weapons, hunger, social injustice, among others, did not work.
He mentioned the practices of genocide (wars provoked on the planet in conditions of disproportionality or bacteriological diffusion strategies), destruction of nature and corporate financial manipulations, dictated from centers known to all.
In the text, he advocated for a promising future for humanity, with dignity and values as proposed by the thinkers who inspired profound historical changes in the 18th and 19th centuries.
All of this, he pointed out, without the mix of use of power manipulating societies through religion, education formats that stupidize people and interference in areas of artistic inspiration (cinema, literature, painting, sculpture, music and others).
Furthermore, without interventions in political models with paper ideologies caricaturing a democracy where the essential thing is not the balanced, fair and social exercise of power, but the coupling of politics with crime, ethical devaluation and corruption.
He stressed that the case of Cuba “is paradigmatic of what happens with the excesses of deadly medicine imposed by an economic and military power, with a claim to sole global dominance, friend of artificial intelligence but enemy of human intelligence.”
There have been more than 62 years of unilateral blockade, several times voted against in the forum of United Nations Assemblies, highlighted the Guatemalan Commission of Solidarity with the Antillean nation.
This is the moment that history offers the United States to redeem itself, either lift the blockade or it will have to continue carrying the rejection and hatred of the people for its incoherence between speech and facts, he expressed.
War is not the way, neither is hunger and death, the way is the universal embrace of peace and justice among what remains of humanity, he emphasized.
Finally, he urged the United States to play its role with human intelligence, lift the blockade of Cuba and return the territory where its military base in Guantánamo is located.
