Sassari, protagonist of animated cinema in the 19th century Sardinia Film Festival

Five European masterpieces, meetings between experts and schools and much more at the event of the Cineclub Sassari (celebrating its 70th anniversary, the longest in Sardinia), which will take place from November 6th to 9th at the Cityplex Moderno in Sassari. The XIX Sardinia Film Festival will, as it has been since 2021, be dedicated exclusively to animation cinema.

The novelty in collaboration with schools is the availability of the National Boarding School of Sassari, where a stop motion laboratory has been set up with the 3rd A and 3rd B classes.

The opening on November 6th at 9:30 a.m. with artist, author and illustrator Monica Tronci will present “My Story with Plasticine” in which she will illustrate how she creates her animated works, while on Friday Carolina Melis and Daniele Mulas of New Animation guests in Sardinia propose “The new animation in Sardinia, a meeting with the NAS project” to communicate the state of the art in the promotion and training of professionals in this important film sector.

Particularly noteworthy on Thursday was the screening of “Blu – Stop-Motion for the first time in Sardinia” accompanied by the director Michela Anedda.

The competition films also include two Oscar candidates: “Flow – a world to save” (Belgium-Latvia-France) directed by Gints Zilbalodis and “My Robot Friend”, a French-Spanish film directed by Pablo Berger.

The festival was presented this morning in the Aula Magna of the National Boarding School of Sassari by the rector Stefano Manca, the mayor Giuseppe Mascia and Carlo Dessì, president of the Cineclub Sassari.
