Ubisoft sales are down nearly 20% this year

Ubisoft is struggling to launch successful new games. The company has published its latest financial report for the last 6 months and the situation for the French company is not so good. While the company claims that its back catalog of games has performed well, it seems that sales have dropped significantly compared to last year, even with the release of big games.

Overall, the company’s game sales fell 19.6% and its net sales fell 21.9%. While the Assassin’s Creed and Rainbow Six Siege franchises continue to show good results, Star wars because it did not meet expectations.

Ubisoft’s results for the last 6 months:

  • Sales: €672 million (-19.6%)
  • Net sales: €642 million (-21.9%)
  • Net digital sales: €527 million (-26.5%)
  • Back catalog net sales: €494 million (-28.95%)

CEO Yves Guillemot said:

Despite recent setbacks, we continue to fundamentally transform Ubisoft to drive the levels of creativity and innovation that have driven Ubisoft’s success, while ‘ deliver stronger performance and predictability.

To be successful, we must redouble our focus on performance and strengthen our player-centric mindset in everything we do. For example, we are improving the quality of Star Wars Outlaws, including proactively responding to player feedback through updates in preparation for the Steam launch, the first story pack, and the season upcoming holidays. We’re also taking the extra time to ensure that the next ambitious installment in our iconic franchise, Assassin’s Creed Shadows, will be a highly polished and unique experience at launch and will be well received to the players.

According to the Director, the plan is now to reduce the company’s costs in the future through better control over recruitment, targeted restructuring and lower outsourcing costs. “We transform the company into a more efficient and flexible organisation“, he said.
