(ANSA) – SAO PAULO, 30 OCT – At today’s close, the US dollar recorded its highest level in the last three years and seven months, with a peri price of 5.76 reais, not far from the all-time record of 5 .90 reais on May 13, 2020, in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic. The US currency had reached the price of 5.77 reais after Economy Minister Fernando Haddad declared that there is no deadline for sending the public spending review package to Parliament, specifying that President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, whom he met yesterday, has yet to decide what measures to adopt. “Lula is asking us for information and we are providing it to him,” the Brazilian Economy Minister told Brazilian journalists, specifying that “there is no date. It depends on him (Lula).” Haddad later denied that the president vetoed the measures. “We’re doing the math for him so we can make a little adjustment,” he said, adding that he doesn’t give figures because “numbers are only released after a decision has been made.” (HANDLE).
