There was a violent robbery attempt at Liesinger Platz in Vienna. Several young people attacked a man and tried to snatch his fanny pack.

There was an attack in Vienna-Liesing on Tuesday in which a group of young people allegedly attacked a 55-year-old man. The altercation occurred around 1 p.m. at Liesinger Platz and reportedly began as a dispute between the man and several young people. During the confrontation, the youth group is said to have hit the man and tried to snatch his fanny pack. The attackers then fled the scene.
Suspects arrested: search successful
The police were alerted immediately after the incident and launched a search. Three of the suspects, including two 14-year-olds and a 15-year-old, were temporarily arrested in the area. A fourth youth, a 16-year-old Romanian, was later identified through investigations. During the interrogations, some of those arrested partially confessed.
Victim injured: investigations ongoing
The Vienna public prosecutor’s office ordered that the young people be reported at large for the time being. The 55-year-old man suffered injuries and received emergency medical care from the Vienna professional rescue service and was taken to hospital. Further investigations are being carried out by the Vienna State Criminal Police Office, which is intended to clarify the exact cause and background of the crime.
