Matjaž Gruden, Director of Democracy, and Villano Qiriazi, Head of the Department of Education, will participate in the Global Education Summit 2024 (GEM), organized by UNESCO, the Thursday 31 October and the Friday November 1, 2024in Fortaleza, Brazil.
Matjaž Gruden will be one of the panelists in the next sessioneducation for sustainable development and global citizenshipwhere he presents the work done by the Council of Europe in these areas. The panel will address key questions about integrating global citizenship and sustainable development in education, including impact measurement and implementation challenges.
Held every two years, GEM is one of the largest international education conferences, bringing together education ministers, finance ministers, representatives of civil society, the private sector, academia and people young people around the world. Aligned with the priorities of the Brazilian G20 Presidency – putting equity and inclusion at the heart – GEM 2024 aims to promote multilateral, intersectoral and multi-stakeholder dialogue, recognizing that education is a factor of social equality and a driving force for sustainable development. This meeting represents a unique opportunity to promote global education goals and strengthen international cooperation to address pressing educational challenges.
