This time the second round of the DFB Cup is over for SC Paderborn.
The second division football team lost 1-0 to Werder Bremen on Wednesday night and almost missed out on the cup round of 16. On the other hand, Bremen could avenge their elimination in Paderborn two years ago.
The SCP gave their favorite Bundesliga team a cup fight on the same stage in the sold out Home Deluxe Arena. It was a big defense after half an hour.
Former Paderborn player Marvin Ducksch received a slick pass at his feet, was able to go around SCP goalkeeper Markus Schubert and effortlessly slot the ball into the hosts’ goal.
The SCP had good chances to score before and after: the team applied a lot of pressure in the first quarter of an hour and appeared dangerous in front of the visitors’ goal several times even after the break. But a goal was not possible.
SC Paderborn continues in the second league on Sunday. Then Eintracht Braunschweig hosts the Home Deluxe Arena with former SCP coach Daniel Scherning.
