Paying bills at R-kiosks ends.
It was still possible to pay bills at R-kiosks, where you can find a barcode containing reference information.
Now, however, the service is coming to an end at the turn of the year, says the CEO of R-kiosk Teemu Rissanen.
– Unfortunately, the financial legislation is getting stricter and we are unable to continue offering the bill payment service with our partner, says Rissanen.

Bills can still be paid at the end of the year at all R-kiosks around the country with bank and credit cards accepted by the kiosks. The service fee is 4.50 euros.
According to Rissanen, the service has garnered a lot of praise.
– It has been used especially among the older generation.

Times are changing
According to the press release published by R-kiosk in 2019, there was a demand for the service in small towns where the local bank branch is closed.
– There is still a large group of people in Finland who do not know how, cannot or do not want to use the digital services of banks. We want to offer them a safe and personal service for paying bills, said the category manager Sanna Toijonen.
Today, the majority of banking services have moved online and the number of bank branches has dropped dramatically across the country.
The era of bill payment machines ended in Finland in 2023. Nordea was the last to give up the service.
The payment service, where invoices are left in an envelope to be paid at the bank, is still in use in the largest banks.
Story corrected on October 30, 2024 at 10:01 p.m.: Contrary to what was said earlier in the story, payments can only be made with bank and credit cards accepted by kiosks, not cash.
