/ world today news/ The construction of the sea section of “South Stream” will begin in the middle of July 2014, announced in Varna Deyan Kalaidjiev, director for Bulgaria of the “South Stream Transport” company, which will build the gas pipeline in the Black Sea.
In January 2014, it is expected that the report on the eco-assessment of the project will be approved by the Eco-Ministry. After that, work will be done on the preparation of the Detailed Layout Plan of the project. The last phase before the start of the actual construction will be the preparation of the project and obtaining the construction permits, explained Matteo Veronese, head of “EIA and permits for South Stream – Bulgaria”. The gas pipeline will exit 11 km south of Varna at Pasha Dere beach. In order to keep the beach intact, the company is planning to dig an underground tunnel for the pipes 20 m deep. This way, there will be no construction on the sand and the water will remain clean. Access to the beach will be limited for a few days digs the tunnel, and in a small section.
The citizens and guests of Varna will be able to receive information about the project and the construction activities in the special information center in the city. It will be opened in January next year, the project company said.
“South Stream” is important for the country and the government is taking the necessary actions for its realization, commented Economy Minister Dragomir Stoynev in Sofia. He added that the previous cabinet only talked about the project, but since becoming a minister he has taken real actions.

Residential gas customers will be able to choose their supplier and switch at any time. This is provided for in the draft of the Rules for Trading in Natural Gas, which has been published for public discussion. If accepted, household customers will have the right to change their supplier of blue fuel, the same rules that already apply to the electricity market.
