Storm Dana caused enormous destruction in several settlements in eastern Spain, transport was completely paralyzed in several places, the exact number of fatalities is not yet known.
Several settlements in eastern Spain, including the country’s third largest city, Valencia, were flooded on Tuesday as a result of sudden rains, reported the The Guardian. Several videos of the flood flooding the streets were shared on social media, showing clearly that the water level even reached the roofs of the cars standing on the street, and in some cases it swept the vehicles away.
In another video, it can be seen that in Valencia, the underpass leading to the subway was completely filled with water, paralyzing traffic in the city. An express train traveling in the region also derailed due to the flood, but the 276 passengers of the train escaped without injury. 12 planes bound for Valencia airport had to be diverted due to the rain, and another 10 flights were canceled from the schedule.
A Spanish government official reported to the country’s public service channel that 6 missing persons are being searched for by drones in Castilla-La Mancha. In the city of L’Alcúdia, a truck driver went missing as a result of the flooding.
