For the first time, the Functional Recovery and Rehabilitation Unit of the Umberto I Hospital in Enna welcomes a doctor specializing in Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine, Silvia Morgano, originally from Enna and currently in specialization school between Catania and Palermo. In agreement with Prof. Michele Vecchio and Prof. Giulia Letizia, the doctor will attend the Umberto I Hospital in Enna for three months. “It is the first time that a professional outside the university network has been inserted within the Functional Recovery and Rehabilitation Operational Unit”, states Prof. Francesco Pegreffi, professor of Kore University at the helm of the Recovery and Rehabilitation Operational Unit. Functional Rehabilitation for about a year. “We welcome the doctor with open arms, convinced that the three months of attendance at the Enna hospital can not only constitute an enrichment for the doctor, who will have the opportunity to learn multidisciplinary management of the patient with musculoskeletal pathology, but also for the our group is always growing and always committed to achieving excellence for the good of the Enna community”. This initiative represents an important step forward for the Functional Recovery and Rehabilitation department of the Umberto I Hospital, which in the last year has significantly invested in the development of innovative medical and rehabilitation activities. “Thanks to the constant support of the Kore University, a Sicilian university of excellence, and of the Strategic Management of the ASP, in the name of Dr. Mario Zappia and Dr. Emanuele Cassarà, the department has strengthened its activities, also focusing on research and on the creation of new protocols for the elderly patient. This last aspect developed synergistically with the Orthopedic sector directed by Prof. Arcangelo Russo and with the rehabilitation sector of the Leonforte Hospital, directed by Dr. Ivano Vicari.
Silvia Morgano is a future physiatrist from Enna with a very respectable training path. His training began at the University of Catania under the guidance of Prof. Michele Vecchio, a luminary of national and international fame in the field of electromyography and current President of the regional SIMFER. Subsequently, Dr. Morgano moved to Palermo (in the training network) to continue her path in the group of Prof. Giulia Letizia Mauro, a regional authority on osteoporosis and a point of reference for the study of vitamin D at national and international, as well as member of the national SIMFER Council. Doctor Morgano’s choice to complete her training at the Enna department is a positive sign for the hospital and for local healthcare. His presence will also contribute to understanding how the integration between hospital and university professionals constitutes a strong point for the hospital and for the community. In a historical moment in which rehabilitation medicine takes on an increasingly central role in the treatment of musculoskeletal pathologies, the arrival of Doctor Morgano marks a turning point and strengthens the hospital’s desire to become a reference center in the sector” .
