Liputan6.com, Jakarta The President of KSPI Said Iqbal announced that the Constitutional Court will read on October 31, 2024 its decision regarding a substantial review of the job creation law. This lawsuit was filed by the Party LaborKSPI, KSPSI AGN, KPBI,FSPMI, and a number of external staff who have been suspended.
“This decision is very important for the world of work in Indonesia in the future, considering the many articles that Job Creation Law “which is considered a negative impact on workers,” said Iqbal.
Iqbal said that KSPI and the Labor Party urged the Constitutional Court to grant all the petitions submitted, especially regarding the revocation of articles that harm workers.
“We ask the Constitutional Court to abolish the rules regarding low wages, lifetime provision, easier layoffs, low severance pay, contract workers without clear periods, workers unskilled foreigners entering without permission, as well as eliminating the right to long leave and maternity leave with full pay,” he said.
One of the problems identified is the use of layoffs which is made easier only through short messages such as WhatsApp. “In fact, layoffs can now only be done via WhatsApp and approved by the Department of Personnel. “This is clearly a neoliberal policy that is very damaging to workers,” said Said Iqbal.
In addition, KSPI and the Labor Party criticized the low divisive pay policy implemented in the Job Creation Law. Previously, laid-off workers could receive a severance payment of up to twice the old rule. “Now, laid off workers will only get 0.5 times the severance pay, even those who have been working for years will only get 10 million rupiah. It is clear that This is very useful capitalism,” he said.
Labor Demo Plans Tomorrow
Regarding the action plan on October 31, thousands of workers from various business sectors will hold a peaceful demonstration in front of the Constitutional Court building. “We hope the police will not interfere with the image of the horses. We just want to monitor the decision of the Constitutional Court and seek justice. “This is a peaceful and constitutional action,” said Said Iqbal.
“We are looking for justice, why should there be obstacles? We want the voices of workers to be heard, and this is our constitutional right,” concluded Said Iqbal.
