The National Assembly of Catalonia continues to give the clearest example of processism that has not assumed the new political context. This context is, in essence, the end of the majority independentmotivated by the bitter disappointment of nationalist voters. The most notable effect of this new situation is that the PSC has achieved political power in Catalonia, with a Salvador Illa who finds no opposition other than that of Orriols, Garriga and Alejandro Fernández.

Faced with this reality, the ANC has become the unfiltered version of Junts. That is, of impotence in the face of the loss of power and the umpteenth trick at the hands of Pedro Sánchez, in this case with the amnesty. This explains why, during the last few months, the ANC has been the spokesperson for Junts.
The first objective of the ANC was ERC, when Llach tried in every possible way to torpedo the agreement with the PSC. Once ERC took a backseat, it was the PSC’s turn. From here on, we have witnessed all kinds of insults and caricatures against Salvador Illa and the PSC as a whole.
Lluís Llach, for example, has made a particular portrait of President Illa. He went from calling him “fascist” to calling him “pseudo-fascist” and, finally, invented the label “pseudo-Francoist.” Although even more notable are the flirtations of the ANC making calls for revolt against the Government and the Parliament.
Just yesterday we explained that the ANC, on the occasion of the seventh anniversary of the fleeting declaration of independence in 2017, had said that the Parliament is “kidnapped” and “violated.” The ANC stressed that the last seven years would be some of the most intense years of “occupation” in memory since 1714.
Salvador Illa, now viceroy
Despite having already questioned the legitimacy of the current Parliament this week, the ANC does not cease its nods to the social and political revolt. Yesterday, at an event in Barcelona, Jordi Pesarrodona, the famous pro-independence clown, told those present that “we have to expel the viceroy of Catalonia”, in reference to Salvador Illa.
The reasoning is that Spain is a “colonial State”, so Salvador Illa is a “collaborator” in the occupation of Catalonia. Consequently, Pesarrodona concludes, “we have to make his government activity unsustainable.” “We have to fire him!” he says at the end of his speech, very excited:
User disbelief
This ANC publication has garnered quite a few comments on social networks. As usual, pro-independence users take advantage of the occasion to make humor and jokes with the harmless independence movement of the ANC. Although, for the most part, users have highlighted the democratic legitimacy of the current Parliament.
“You don’t know how to live in society”, “I only like democracy if my people win”. “Democrats who do not accept the results of democratic elections.” And the conclusion of many was that if they want to oust Salvador Illa, they have to win the elections. In short, the process had its opportunity and lost it.
