The football world has shown its solidarity with the victims of the DANA that has struck the Valencian Community, leaving a tragic toll of at least 51 dead. Vinicius, a forward for Real Madrid, expressed his support on social media with a message of encouragement: “Much strength to everyone.” This message was published after the Madrid club issued an official statement, in which the president and the Board of Directors conveyed their condolences to the families of the deceased and their support to the affected communities: “Real Madrid C.F., its president and its Board of Directors want to express their condolences to the families and loved ones of those who have died due to the storm affecting many areas of our country.”

Other clubs such as Valencia CF, Levante UD, Atlético de Madrid, and Barcelona have also joined in the expressions of condolence. Valencia CF expressed on their social media: “Valencia CF wants to extend its deepest condolences to the families and friends of those who have died due to the #DANA. RIP. Much strength to all the neighbors and affected populations and to the groups working on the prevention and consequences of the storm’s effects.” Additionally, the Mestalla club has made itself available to the authorities to collaborate in whatever is necessary.

The severity of the situation in the region has led to the suspension of several sporting events. The Spanish Football Federation (FEF) has postponed the King’s Cup matches scheduled for this Wednesday, such as the clash between Valencia and Parla Escuela, and the duel between Levante and Pontevedra. The FEF has also announced that, in memory of the victims, all matches of competitions organized in the coming days will begin with a minute of silence.

The Valencia City Council recommended the suspension of the Eurocup match between Valencia Basket and 7-Bet Lietkabelis Panevezys due to the severe weather conditions affecting the area since yesterday. The match, which was scheduled for today, has been suspended, and in the coming days, the best options for rescheduling it will be evaluated.

In this context, Spanish football unites in a message of support to the families of the victims and all those affected, as well as to the emergency teams working tirelessly in the face of the severe floods in the Levante region.
