Japanese city makes Luffy the “king of safe driving”

The Japanese city of Kumamoto presented recently introduced a new traffic slogan that is clearly reminiscent of Luffy’s iconic words from »One Piece«. We summarize below.

More safety with »One Piece«

The city of Kumamoto in the Japanese prefecture of the same name is the home of “One Piece” creator Eiichiro Oda, which is why he feels a deep connection to it. For this reason, he also donated 800 million yen to support reconstruction following the devastating earthquakes of April 14, 2016.

In the following years, part of the donated money was used to raise money ten bronze statues of the most popular »One Piece« characters throughout the prefecture. But apart from that, the Kumamoto city government has since missed no opportunity to pay tribute to their hero.

In this context, the current slogan on road safety is all about “One Piece”. Because Luffy’s iconic sentence “I will be the king of the pirates” was quickly converted to “I will be the king of safe driving!!!” and can now be found on numerous LED boards.

As usual, you can see a picture of this below these lines. Please let us know your opinion on this topic in the comments!
