Bisnis.comJAKARTA – It is expected that the rupiah exchange rate against the United States dollar will continue to weaken in trading today, Wednesday (30/10/2024).
In yesterday’s trade, rupiah down 0.30% to IDR with 15,770 per US dollar. Meanwhile, the US dollar index strengthened 0.02% to 104.29.
Most other currencies in the Asian region closed lower on Tuesday (29/10/2024). The Japanese yen rose 0.01%, the Singapore dollar fell 0.16%, the Taiwan dollar fell 0.09%, the South Korean won fell 0.09%, and the Philippine peso rose 0.03%.
Meanwhile, the Indian rupee weakened, the Chinese yuan weakened 0.17%, the Hong Kong dollar strengthened 0.01%, the Malaysian ringgit fell 0.21%, and the Thai baht fell 0.16%.
Forexindo Futures Profit Director Ibrahim Assuaibi believes that the rupiah currency will tend to fluctuate in today’s trading.
“The Rupiah has the potential to close lower in the range of Rp. 15,760-Rp. 15,870 each US dollars“, he said in an investigation, which was announced on Wednesday (30/10/2024).
Ibrahim explained several global and domestic sentiments that affect the rupiah exchange rate. Globally, sentiment is emanating from the United States Election with Donald Trump and Kamala Harris preparing to face a fierce general election. Vote The US election set for November 5.
Recent polls and prediction markets show Trump with a slight lead over Harris, although analysts still expect a tighter race. This creates uncertainty.
In addition, sentiment also comes from gross domestic product data for the third quarter of 2024 that will be released on Thursday. The Fed’s preferred inflation measures PCE price index data and nonfarm payrolls data or payments will be non-farm released on Friday, with both data released just weeks before the Fed meeting.
In addition, markets await further economic announcements from China, after the latest stimulus measures from Beijing failed to inspire confidence in the economic recovery.
The focus is now on Purchasing Managers’ Index data from China, due on Thursday, for further clues on the economy.

Strengthened, Rupiah closes stronger
Naming data Bloomberg At 15.00 WIB, the rupiah closed up 0.42% to IDR 15,704 per US dollar. The US dollar index weakened slightly by 0.04% to 104.27.
Meanwhile, most other currencies in the Asian region also closed higher. The Japanese yen rose 0.03%, the Hong Kong dollar strengthened 0.01%, the Taiwan dollar strengthened 0.26%, South Korea strengthened 0.32% and the Philippine peso rose 0.08%.
On the other hand, currencies that registered a weakening included the Indian rupee by 0.01%, followed by the Malaysian ringgit and the Thai baht respectively down 0.14% and 0.19%.

Referring to Bloomberg data, the rupiah exchange rate strengthened 24.5 points or 0.16% to IDR 15,746 per US dollar in today’s trade until 12.00 WIB.
Forexindo Futures Profit Director Ibrahim Assuaibi believes that the rupiah currency will tend to fluctuate in today’s trading.
“The Rupiah has the potential to close lower in the range of IDR 15,760-IDR 15,870 per US dollar,” he said in research, published on Wednesday (30/10/2024).

Rupiah opens up 0.28%
Naming data Bloomberg At 09.00 WIB, the rupiah opened up 0.28% to IDR 15,727 per US dollar. The US dollar index weakened 0.06% to 104.25.
Meanwhile, other currencies in the Asian region opened mixed this morning. The yen was flat, the Singapore dollar was flat, the Taiwan dollar strengthened 0.16%, the South Korean won rose 0.02%, and the Philippine peso rose 0.03%.
Then the Indian rupee fell, the Chinese yuan weakened 0.05%, the Hong Kong dollar strengthened 0.01%, the Malaysian ringgit fell 0.10%, and the Thai baht fell 0.13% per US dollar.
