Cub in the streets against staff cuts and low salaries at school

(ANSA) – MILAN, 30 OCTOBER – Overall cuts in the workforce of around 8 thousand employees, precarious employment, low salaries decimated by inflation and with a completely insufficient possibility of contract renewal: these, in summary, are the reasons for Cub- Sur for tomorrow’s school strike including the University. The main demonstration will take place in Turin with a concentration around 10am in Corso Vittorio Emanuele II, in front of the headquarters of the regional school office, and then departure, after 11am, of the procession towards Piazza Castello. Garrisons are planned in various cities including Rome, Catania, Modena and Vicenza. “The resources that the Government provides for the renewal of the 2022-24 contract of school staff are less than a third compared to the inflation of the last three years. In practice, the expected increases involve only a partial recovery and disbursed late – states the Cub -. Furthermore, almost 8,000 jobs are expected to be cut among teaching, administrative, technical and auxiliary staff”. Regarding the ‘Teachers’ Card’, for expenses relating to training and refresher courses, it is not certain – it is stated – that the expected amount of 500 euros will be the same in the coming years. The Card then “hitherto provided only for permanent staff is recognized only for substitutes as of 31 August, creating an unacceptable division between temporary colleagues and is accompanied by a more than probable reduction in its amount”. Even the university sector, “already exhausted by years of cuts and privatizations, suffers damage in particular with regard to its precarious component: doctoral students, researchers, grant holders”. Cub demands an adequate contractual framework to protect the pace of work and the stabilization of all temporary workers at the University as well as all workers at the school. (HANDLE).
