Double packer Tim Stützle led his Ottawa Senators to a sweeping victory in the NHL with a very strong performance.
In the 8-1 win over the St. Louis Blues in the North American professional league, the German national ice hockey player scored two goals and two assists; it was the 22-year-old’s first four-point game of the season. Stützle was named best player.
“We are hard on ourselves and want to achieve something every evening. Some evenings we succeed, others not,” said Stützle. It was a kind of do-or-die game, “today we supported each other well in all three zones and didn’t really allow much.”
Stützle scored the goals to make it 3-0 (16th minute) and 7-0 (48th minute) at the Canadian Tire Centre, and the striker prepared Brady Tkachuk’s 4-0 (20th) and 5-0 (32nd) goals . For Ottawa it was the fifth win in the ninth game of the season, which meant the team jumped four places up to fourth place in the Atlantic Division table.
