PS and MR are (already) considering the end of decumulation in Brussels

This measure was put in place during the last Brussels legislature.

Is the door (already) open towards the end of decumulation in Brussels, two years after its adoption? According to our colleagues at Echo, the MR and the PS have tabled a proposed order aimed at replacing the incompatibility between the mandates of parliamentarian and mayor with a situation of “impediment”. This situation would allow the representatives concerned to avoid having to definitively choose between one or the other position in the municipality and the Region, but allow them to potentially move back and forth between functions.

Pushed by Ecolo and Défi, this measure was put in place during the last Brussels legislature. The PS already expressed reservations, the MR publicly opposed it. These two parties will now have to govern together, so their violins already seem to be in tune on the issue.

The proposal was tabled by Vincent De Wolf (MR), mayor of Etterbeek… and Brussels MP. Would also be affected by the measure: Ahmed Laaouej (PS) in Koekelberg, Ridouane Chahid (PS) in Evere and David Leisterh (MR) in Watermael-Boistfort.

The fact remains that a majority has not yet been formed in Brussels. An agreement would be necessary on the French-speaking side and the Dutch-speaking side.
