“In general, the results of this referendum will be harmful especially to the small parties, and therefore they were easily embarrassed, but they were facilitated by the initiators themselves,” said the former caretaker prime minister.
He accused the president of distorting his position on constitutional reform, saying he was never against all the proposals. According to Bliznashki, the idea of dividing the Supreme Judicial Council into two collegiums is not bad in essence, but it is important how it will be done. “There are interested parties who are constantly trying to present my positions in an unfavorable light,” he said.
According to Georgi Bliznashki, the Minister of Justice is responsible for choosing Maya Manolova as ombudsman. “It should be remembered that her candidacy was launched by Hristo Ivanov. Things are very tight and part of a game – for the ruling party to make a breakthrough in the ranks of the BSP”, he said, but refused to give more details about the intention of the ruling parties.
Bliznashki said that he did not approve of Manolova’s candidacy for ombudsman and that more people and candidates should have been looked at. “It is not proper for such politicized figures to hold the position of ombudsman, which by definition should not be political. I don’t think that she is the person to embody the idea of the ombudsman”, he thinks.
Georgi Bliznashki also said that his role as an adviser to the DPS on the constitutional reform has already been exhausted, as it has moved on to another stage. If he is asked as an advisor at the next stage as well, he will think about whether to accept.
