Siena, 30 October 2024 – “In Tuscany we are among the top places in Italy for healthcare: as a doctor I am proud of this.” The words are from the doctor Gerardo Anastasiodoctor at Cisanello in Pisa and secretary of Anaao Toscana. Out of 1,363 hospitals examined, the Agenas report crowns the Careggi polyclinic in Florence among the three best hospitals in Italy.
And the excellent performance of the Tuscan healthcare is confirmed by the good results achieved by other structures mentioned during the presentation yesterday in Rome: out of twenty macro-indicators analysed, Tuscany grew in thirteen and is stable in seven. An excellent result.
“We have the lowest percentage of mortality from heart attacks, together with Umbria – Dr. Anastasio goes into detail -; the same cannot be said about angioplasty, in terms of operation time. The results of heart operations carried out in the three university hospitals of Florence, Pisa and Siena and in Monasterio are excellent, however there is great variability between the provinces when one leaves the hospital, one year after the heart attack, the changes in short, local assistance increases mortality. Another indicator is surgery for femur fracture within 48 hours: in this case we can improve; the Tuscan network works for the treatment of diabetes; too many people are hospitalized for chronic obstructive bronchitis.”
Entering in detail, “the Le Scotte polyclinic in Siena boasts excellent results in cardiac valve surgery, but for bypass there are no findings; excellent outcomes also for stroke, breast cancer and femur fracture. Careggi of Florence is on the podium for cardiac surgery, stroke and post-infarction care in the area is also excellent. Cisanello of Pisa is at the level of Florence for cardiac surgery and heart attack and the oncological surgery is commendable. Now we need to maintain this level, keeping in mind that there are areas of care, such as prosthetic surgery, which are going to the private sector.”
Among others Tuscan hospitals are mentioned in the Heart of Massasecond in Italy for coronary angioplasty; the Valdinievole hospital has made great strides Fishthe San Jacopo of Pistoia and the San Giuseppe di Empoli.
