In order to improve the “performance of water networks and support research in water and waste” in the country, Suez announces in particular that it has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Moroccan Safari Group, with a view to creating a company common which “will provide Regional Multiservice Companies with innovative and digital solutions for optimizing the management of water networks”.
In partnership with the MAScIR Foundation, associated with the Mohammed VI Polytechnic University, the French group will also carry out a research program relating to the treatment and valorization of organic materials, in continuation of the agreement signed by the MAScIR Foundation and SUEZ in March 2024 in order to identify innovative solutions in the treatment and recovery of waste. An agreement that Suez will extend to the field of water management, and more specifically to that of seawater desalination.
At the same time as signing these contracts relating to water management, SUEZ also announces two other agreements relating to waste management; for the construction and operation of the Oum Azza waste treatment and recovery center in the Rabat region.
SUEZ finally announces that it has been awarded the management contract for the waste treatment and recovery center in Kenitra, one of the largest cities in the country with nearly 500,000 inhabitants. Worth 120 million euros over 20 years, this contract provides for the establishment of a new site.
“Suez has been working alongside Moroccans for nearly 75 years to build sustainable water and waste management infrastructure. With these four new agreements, we demonstrate our desire to continue to invest in Morocco to support the Kingdom’s environmental transition. These agreements are an illustration of our commitment to working in partnership with the Moroccan authorities and companies” declared Sabrina Soussan, Chairman and CEO of Suez, on the occasion of these announcements.
