He actually just wanted to unload something from the car for a moment, so he left the trunk lid of his car open for a moment and his wallet in it: A 47-year-old German was killed last night around 5:40 p.m. on Wartlautstrasse, at the corner of Badstüberstrasse, by a young man distracted.
Neubrandenburg: Theft and resistance to the police
In Neubrandenburg, a supposedly injured person appealed to the help of a 47-year-old citizen, who then became the victim of a theft. The fraudster, who pretended to have a damaged hand and was waving a loose bandage, sought assistance in fixing it and sat in the man’s open trunk. After the person who was supposedly in need of help disappeared, the person concerned noticed that his wallet had been lost and immediately filed a report with the police, where he was able to provide a detailed personal description of the perpetrator.
Shortly afterwards, the police faced resistance when a known troublemaker refused to obey a ban on Neuer Markt and behaved aggressively. It was an 18-year-old teenager from Sierra Leone who had been noticed several times. During his search, the officers discovered the 47-year-old’s stolen items. That same evening, after consultation with the public prosecutor, the stolen property was returned to the person who was robbed.
The young man from Sierra Leone is now being investigated on suspicion of theft, resisting arrest and insults. The incidents highlight the constant threat of theft and the importance of remaining vigilant even when providing assistance.
