Johann Strauss provided the motto for the event with the Waltz Fairy Tale from the Orient. In the classic first part of the concert, further compositions from the Orient by Ludwig van Beethoven, Johannes Brahms and Franz Schubert will be heard.
In the concert gavotte “Fata Morgana” by Franz Lehár, Leonard Streit is the youngest member of the orchestra to play the solo part on the violin. In the second part of the concert, music from the films Lawrence of Arabia, Prince of Egypt and Aladdin can be heard. Sepp Wipfli decorates three movements from Dmitri Shostakovich’s Jazz Suite No. 2 with the alto saxophone. And maybe even Dr Sidi Abdel Assar from El Hama will take the stage, if the spirit of Mani Matter gives his consent. (zvg/sim)
