The third hearing on October 29th. Kiel showed one thing: employers don’t move on their own.
-
No new offer for money
-
Employers continue to see differentiation as a basic requirement
-
Still willing, but nothing concrete regarding training allowances
-
Staying on a constructive path when it comes to time off
-
No statement about the social component
“Overall, things are still tough. “We need significantly more movement when it comes to the amount and timing of the tariff increase and the duration.”said Daniel Friedrichdistrict manager of IG Metall Coast. “We will hold discussions in the next few days to clarify when and how another hearing can take place. At the same time, we are increasing the pressure from companies with further warning strikes.”
Night shift workers in 17 companies on the coast had already stopped working that night. In front of the negotiation room, over 2,000 metal workers from companies in Kiel and the surrounding area called on the employers to improve the offer.
“The night shift activities and the strong participation here in Kiel and elsewhere are a clear signal.” so Friedrich. “We will inform the employees about the status of the negotiations in the next few days as part of warning strikes. It’s clear: we have to increase the pressure.”
