What is von Willebrand syndrome?
The cause of the actress’s death has not yet been made public. However, it is known that Zającówna has been struggling with von Willebrand’s disease for years – the disease ended her dreams of a sports career years ago. She chose acting instead. However, fans regretted that she had seen so little of her on screen in recent years.
— When I became seriously ill, I understood what was most important in life. My approach to the profession has changed. I told myself that I wouldn’t die on stage – she explained in an interview for “Viva!”
Willebrand’s disease, also called pseudo-von Willebrand syndrome, is the most common thrombocytopathy (hemorrhagic disorder), meaning blood clotting disorders.
It is associated with impaired function of von Willebrand factor, a protein found in the bloodstream that is necessary for blood clotting. The deficiency of this factor prevents platelets from connecting with each other and the edges of the wound, which makes it difficult to stop bleeding.
Pseudo-von Willebrand syndrome is diagnosed more often than hemophilia A and B. The disease often develops in the course of other ailments, and also occurs in an acquired form – it is similar to the congenital form, but usually accompanies other diseases.
The star of “Nights and Days”, Jadwiga Barańska, has died. She had serious health problems
There are three types of it – type 1 syndrome, i.e. a mild form, affecting up to 70%. patients, type 2 syndrome, qualitative and type 3 syndrome, severe form.
Treatment and management of the disease consist primarily in stopping hemorrhages, preventing bleeding in high-risk situations (e.g. in the case of certain procedures) and administering desmopressin, a preparation responsible for the release of von Willebrand factor into the blood. Patients are also recommended to supplement the deficiencies of the vWD factor.
