This system is planned to come into force next year. It should make it possible to report more offenses committed on the road thanks to new radars. However, motorist defense associations are crying scandal.
On the road, you must always remain careful. This level of vigilance should, however, be increased tenfold from 2025 with the entry into force of new radars to penalize new offenses.
From next year, automatic radars will be able to flash all motorists who commit these offenses: holding the phone in their hand, not wearing a seat belt and not respecting safety distances, states L’Argus.
According to the news site specializing in automobiles, the offenses will even be cumulative. Thus, the same radar can flash you for several offenses committed. The consequences promise to be terrible for motorists’ wallets since they will risk a fine of 135 euros and a withdrawal of three points from the license for each offense.

The radars will therefore have their work cut out for them and for this, the government plans to increase their number by 4%. They will thus increase from 4000 to 4160 in 2025. If new radars will be deployed for the occasion, the radars already in place will be updated.
However, this new planned system does not please, particularly motorist associations. Thus, 40 million motorists denounce “ excessive use of the automatic ticketing system, while the return of road checks by law enforcement would allow better prevention of dangerous behavior ».

Indeed, defense associations fear an increase in verbalizations. “ If a motorist is overtaken by another and pulls in front of him without respecting the safety distance, it is the motorist who was overtaken who will be penalized, even though he is the victim! », Explains Philippe Nozière, president of 40 million consumers, in a press release.
It is unclear how large the margin of error will be. The system plans to integrate artificial intelligence to detect offenses. The text is currently being examined by deputies.
