It returns to the McDonald’s menu on USA the popular burger Quarter Pounderwhich had been withdrawn after the outbreak of infections from E.Coli. The beef burger was ruled out as a possible source of the outbreak, which caused problems for dozens of consumers.
The company said samples tested by the Colorado Department of Agriculture (CDA) were negative for the bacteria. The company added that CDA had no plans for further testing.
McDonald’s suspended sales of the Quarter Pounder last week at 1/5 of its US restaurants as a measure against the outbreak.
“The issue seems to be limited to a specific component and geographically. We remain very confident that any contaminated product associated with this outbreak has been removed from our supply chain,” McDonald’s North America Supply Chain Director Cesar Piña said in a statement.
It is noted that the US Food and Drug Administration “suspects” the chopped onions in Quarter Pounders as another possible source of the outbreak. McDonald’s said it stopped working with the supplier of the onions and removed them from its supply chain.
“The 900 restaurants that historically received chopped onions from the Taylor Farms facility in Colorado Springs will continue to sell Quarter Pounders without chopped onions,” the company said.
