Tuesday October 29 (5 p.m.) as part of the 3rd day of Pro A ladies, Nîmes-Montpellier (7th, 4 points) plays Schiltigheim (11th, 0 points). The first of two meetings of the week for Nîmes also out at Parnasse, Thursday October 31. On this occasion, the Alliance will field its boys’ teams – with the Lebrun brothers – and girls’ teams.
We have probably never heard as much about table tennis in France as we do now, with the hype around the Lebrun brothers helping. This season, in Pro A ladies, the Nîmes, too, could well be talked about.
”Stone by stone, we are trying to build and establish the women’s project, after a few years of holding on to the last matchreports the Nîmes president of the Alliance, Alain Lauferon. Last year, we held on without going through the play-offs, it was the first time. This year, it’s, at least, doing the same thing again and, perhaps, even going to the play-off this time.”
Schiltigheim, black beast
In Quimper, Nîmes-Montpellier ideally launched its 2024/2025 Pro A exercise, winning in complete control (3-1).
”When I look ahead, I tell myself that there is still a long way to go and when I look behind, I tell myself that the progress we have made is great.”continues Lauferon, 12th season at the post in Gard.
A president who, when he looks at the present, sees a trip to Schiltigheim looming on Tuesday, ”our pet peeve. This is a team that has never succeeded for us, whatever their configuration or ours. Now, like Felix (Lebrun) who managed to beat his brother Alexis (winner at the WTT in Montpellier)the Alliance will perhaps finally succeed in beating Schiltigheim, which has never happened since we were in Pro A”.
In Nîmes with the Lebruns
For this, Nîmes coach Florian Habuda can count, in particular, on ”two world-class players”adds the Gard president, referring to the Brazilian Bruna Takahashi, 18th in the world, and the Italian Giorgia Piccolin 71st.
While waiting for Europe, mid-November in Spain, these young ladies (against Etival) will also perform at Parnasse, Thursday October 31 (7 p.m.).
For a mixed version Alliance, with the Lebrun brothers (in Pro A against Hennebont). Without doubt the best ad for the little white ball in Nîmes…
