The Bundesliga season is in full swing and after just eight match days there will be exciting games, big surprises and disappointments. Sky can be happy about that too.
In the midst of the poker rights allocation with DAZN, in which a decision should be made soonthere is good news for Sky. The pay TV broadcaster is happy about it.
Sky can be happy
The 8th game day in the Bundesliga and for Sky, Saturday was a reason to celebrate. The pay-TV broadcaster has traditionally benefited from Bundesliga broadcasts. According to “DWDL”, 1.20 million people watched the conference and the individual games.

This equated to a strong market share of 24 percent among the young audience. At that time, Sky was also the market leader. The top three teams in the conference could have a reason for the good odds. BVB was a guest in Augsburg (1:2). Second place VfB Stuttgart won nearby against newly promoted Holstein Kiel (2:1) and RB Leipzig led the table with a 3:1 victory against SC Freiburg.
Then the master was involved too. Bayer Leverkusen hosted Werder Bremen and there were 720,000 spectators from 6:30pm. That equated to 8.6 per cent among 14 to 49-year-olds. Sky had a daily market share of 4.2 per cent among young listeners and was only slightly behind ZDF (4.4 per cent), but still ahead of Kabel Eins (3.6 percent) and RTL 2 (3.4 percent).
A rights decision is pending
Two matches that would probably have achieved very good ratings for Sky are the two individual games between VfL Bochum and Bayern Munich and the clash between Union Berlin and Eintracht Frankfurt on Sunday (October 27). But both games are on DAZN as well as the last game of the 8th matchday between Heidenheim and Hoffenheim.
