In the early hours of this October 28, Nayib Bukele reported on the implementation of the security fence in the 10 de Octubre neighborhood, in the San Marcos district, in San Salvador Sur, “after it was detected that there are a group of hidden gang members.”
According to the president, there are 2,000 soldiers and 500 police officers who are stationed in this sector “to extract every last gang member found in the area.” This happens under an emergency regime, in force for 30 months to supposedly combat the country’s gangs.
In the 10 de Octubre neighborhood, each passage is guarded by police and military; Vehicles were also searched when entering and leaving the neighborhood; some of the inhabitants welcome this type of implementation.
