Innovative activity in alliance with students from the San Sebastián University.

Inmates from the female section of the Valdivia Penitentiary Complex participated in a talk on domestic violence, given by two fifth-year Law students from the San Sebastián University.

The activity, which took place inside the prison facility, included the participation of six women deprived of liberty, who shared experiences in a space for dialogue.

The Regional Director of the Gendarmerie in Los Ríos, Lieutenant Colonel Rafael Rojas, highlighted the relevance of this type of initiative, highlighting that “the fact that law students can train inmates on such relevant topics allows us to provide them with more and better tools in the context of complex situations.”

For her part, Gina Osorio, academic and director of the Law degree at the San Sebastián University in Valdivia, pointed out that these instances bring students closer to concrete work experiences, contributing to their academic and professional training.

This talk is part of the activities carried out by the Gendarmerie in the prison facilities of the Los Ríos Region, aimed at informing the female prison population about essential topics for their personal development and social reintegration.
