The Warriors describe the injury as a left peroneal sprain.
Curry injured his left ankle during the fourth quarter of Sunday night’s game against the Los Angeles Clippers.
He will be re-evaluated on Friday, which means he will miss at least two games.
Curry injured the same ankle late in the third quarter, but returned to the game after receiving treatment. Following the second incident, the Golden State Warriors quickly announced that he would not return for the remainder of the game.
Warriors head coach Steve Kerr said he spoke to Curry after the game and Curry described his injury as “moderate.”
Curry was bothered by ankle injuries early in his career, but has always managed to avoid the worst until now. However, he only played an average of 26 minutes per game during the first two games of the season against the Portland Trail Blazers and the Utah Jazz, maintaining averages of 26 points and 7 assists.
